Chapter 01

Reaching an audience that doesn’t respond to mass communication

Enterprise technology is rarely adopted because a large number of people have encountered an advertisement.

Adoption depends on a smaller group of decision-makers understanding the solution, trusting its capabilities and recognising how it fits into their organisation’s existing workflows.

For Google Chrome Enterprise, the objective was to encourage more enterprises to consider its security and workplace solutions.

But the intended audience - CISOs, information-security leaders and senior technology stakeholders - was specialised, highly informed and surrounded by competing claims.

The campaign needed to do more than increase visibility.

It needed to build credibility.

Chapter 02

The challenge was concentration, not scale

A traditional reach-led campaign could place Chrome Enterprise in front of a large professional audience. But broad exposure would not guarantee relevance among the people capable of influencing enterprise adoption.

The more useful question was not:

How many people can the campaign reach?

It was:

Where are the right decision-makers already gathering to understand the future of enterprise security?

That reframing changed the media strategy. Instead of distributing isolated messages across a wide range of environments, the campaign needed a credible centre around which a deeper narrative could be built.

Chapter 03

Finding the right room

ET CISO was selected as the campaign’s strategic platform.

Its audience already included Indian and global information-security leaders. It was not necessary to manufacture professional relevance around that environment; the relevance already existed.

This made ET CISO more than a distribution channel. It became the room in which Chrome Enterprise could participate in serious conversations about security, technology and the changing workplace.

The brand could demonstrate its point of view within a context the audience trusted, rather than interrupting that audience with a generic enterprise message elsewhere.

Editorially integrated stories placed the subject inside wider industry conversations

Chapter 04

From a campaign placement to a proprietary destination

A dedicated microsite was created to serve as the campaign’s central destination.

The role of the destination was to bring Chrome Enterprise’s different narratives and content formats together, giving the audience a coherent environment in which to explore the subject.

Instead of sending people towards disconnected articles or advertisements, the campaign established an owned space inside the ET CISO ecosystem.

That space could host the campaign while also signalling a longer-term commitment to the category and its professional community.

The microsite created the foundation. The content surrounding it gave the destination depth.

Chapter 05

Building the narrative from multiple directions

Enterprise adoption cannot be encouraged through one content format alone.

Different stakeholders require different levels of context, and complex solutions need to be understood through more than a single claim.

The campaign was therefore developed as an interconnected system containing:

  • Editorially integrated stories that placed the subject within wider industry conversations.
  • Thought-leadership articles that allowed complex ideas to be explored with greater depth.
  • Podcasts and opinion-led content that brought expert voices into the narrative.
  • An event that created a direct space for industry conversation.
  • Display communication that maintained visibility and directed audiences towards the larger campaign ecosystem.

Each format performed a different task, but every element contributed to the same objective: increasing the visibility and credibility of Chrome Enterprise among relevant enterprise decision-makers.

Chapter 06

Creating a centre of gravity

The microsite prevented the campaign from becoming a collection of unrelated executions.

Articles could introduce a subject. Podcasts could deepen it. Expert perspectives could add authority. The event could transform content into conversation. Display activity could continue directing the right audience back towards the destination.

This created a clear journey:

Discover the subject within a trusted professional environment.
Explore Chrome Enterprise’s perspective through editorial and thought leadership.
Hear the conversation through podcasts and expert voices.
Engage more deeply through the dedicated destination and event.

The campaign did not attempt to simplify enterprise decision-making into a single advertising message.

It built a credible environment in which that decision could begin.
